About the event
Theatresports is a type of short-form improvisation where the players engage in fun, easy-to-learn drama games. These games encourage players to take risk and collaborate by playing whilst still having fun. Like previous years, Vena Cava productions will be hosting these sessions weekly. We hope that Theaterports will be sociable and fun and be a good steppingstone. We encourage anyone from any course, with any level of performative or drama experience to come along, play, and make some friends.
Meet you instructor (drum roll please)...your Vena Cava Productions Theatresports Coordinator for 2023 is Daniel Johnston! Daniel, who was formerly the 2020 Theatresports Coordinator, first started improv by attending Theatresports sessions in 2019. These sessions had a profound impact on him. From there he has branched out, doing classes with Improv QLD and being apart of their Theatresports showcases and long-from shows. Daniel has had the opportunity to not only do shows and festivals within Brisbane but also being able to travel to Singapore and Perth as well, with even more plans throughout the year. Daniel is excited to use what he’s learnt over the last few years to encourage those that attend to be curious and take risks and hopefully have the same impact on others that these sessions had on him.
